As a result the internet bandwidth will get utilized unnecessarily. AFAIK we all faced this issue and created our own base images to solve the problem. Therefore I think it's better to have a base image in the remote repository. At the time a production environment is being created, users can change the base image to an OS image and get the image size optimizations done. WDYT?
