If you're interest to contribute to Xalan's new release, I can think of
following activities you may contribute to, either one of these or both,
1) As has been advised by Joe, Xalan's dev repos branch xalan-j_xslt3.0_mvn
other than XSLT 3.0 work, also needs to have XSLT 1.0 processor derived from
Xalan-J's 2.7.3 version.
I think, this is little complicated activity. I'm also interested to do this
myself. You may do this as well, if you like.
2) Fixing Xalan's XSLT 3.0 implementation available on dev repos branch
xalan-j_xslt3.0_mvn
Xalan's W3C XSLT 3.0 test suite status latest report is available here,
https://github.com/apache/xalan-java/blob/xalan-j_xslt3.0_mvn/src/test/java/org/apache/xalan/tests/w3c/xslt3/result/w3c_xslt3_testsuite_xalan-j_result.xml
If you feel comfortable, you may try to fix any of XSLT 3.0
failing tests mentioned within this, Xalan's W3C XSLT 3.0 test report.
pr for any contribution to Xalan are welcome.
