Hi everyone -
I'm a "first-timer" here. Just thought I'd mention a very useful "XML
spreadsheet format" site that I've found. It has solved a problem that
I've had for ages. Here it is -

Now, please "bear with me" as I explain (and eventually mention why
this may possibly be useful as a "tool" for OO.org ) -
What this guy (Eric) has been able to do is to create a "very simple
but easy to understand and useful" XML spreadsheet format. He has
also done the XSL stylesheets to convert that from his format to Excel
and back.

Hi again everyone -
Sorry to be replying to my own post.
In hindsight, I'm thinking that the kind of translation mentioned in
my previous post is probably mainly of use in the kind of situation that
I have (where you have a massive pile of data and want to put a small
subset of it into a complex template - all while running in Unix/Linux).
OO.org has excellent filters to go to and from Excel, text and lots
more, so unless folks have my kind of "use case", using XSLT for
spreadsheet transformations may be a bit of a "roundabout" way of doing
things.
( Note to self - "Please engage brain before putting keyboard into
gear ... " :-)) ) Sorry for the noise ... ;-)
Anyway - Eric's site is nevertheless *excellent!*.
