It sounds like using XSLT is the best tool.  You can see examples of
how to extract and transform information from OpenOffice.org 2.0 
(OpenDocument) at http://books.evc-cit.info/

Please note that .sxw is the format from OpenOffice 1.0; I'd suggest you 
use 2.0 instead; a word processing file has the extension .odt
