Some of the oddities that we thought handy are now 'to be paid for'
according to the saxon tax.

We shouldn't have done it in the first place. Sigh

Even without the extensions, xslt 2.0 is well worth the switch.
Lots of extra functionality that makes complex transformations
that much more easy.
