builds sems down, so i cant see what the failure is, but new patch looks good
to me.

will test and commit once i see what jenkin's problem was. im going to guess it
was unrelated, there's some flake in tests which we need to fix before 4.3.0.
doesnt seem to exist in 4.2 branch.
