Chris Nauroth commented on ZOOKEEPER-2422:

bq. How would I know when the patch is sufficiently reviewed and ultimately
accepted or rejected?
The exact process is a little different across different Apache projects. For
ZooKeeper, the patch needs to be reviewed and given a +1 vote by at least one
project committer. We prefer to get 2 committers to review the patch, except
for very low-risk patches (where the exact definition of "low-risk" is left to
a committer's judgment). This can take some time, because there are multiple
patches awaiting review and only a limited number of committers.
Thank you for contributing this patch.

> In order to improve remote monitoring of the ZooKeeper instance using tools
> like Icinga/NRPE, it is very desirable to expose JVM heap stats via a
> light-weight interface. The "mntr" 4lw is a good candidate for this.
