... and what's your problem with making a living?

I believe in honesty and being up-front.
Commercial companies should not pretend to be altruistic Mother Teresa -- working for the common good.

You seem to have been surprised by the fact that Jahia Ltd is a commercial company. What made you think it wasn't?

I guess I was thrown by the warm fuzzy words like 'collaborative community' which seems to imply a community of equals working together for a common good. In Jahia it seems that some people are more equal than others.

For which company are you working for?

I work for a commercial company which tells me BEFOREHAND how much it will pay me for my services. I do not have to depend on their kindness to decide AFTERWARDS if they will pay me for the work I did.

I have contributed to open source freeware in the past and would do it again.
I believe in a community of equals, not one with special rights for some.
If Jahia admitted openly that it is a commercial company looking for beta-testers to debug/develop in exchange for licenses, it would be in line with the norms. I was amused by Jahia calling itself a 'community' and then hiding the details in fine print.

Thank you for the interesting discussion,

Always welcome.
On a final note, I believe adults are free to decide for themselves. If people want to work for free for a commercial corporation, then so be it. More power to Jahia.

Best of luck!
