Thanks for the quick reply.

I have modified the site settings dialog so I use the same mechanism as the
rest of the items there, e.g. logo, page width etc.
Do I need to add another button to that dialog somehow?
The strange thing is that the footer text field, which works the same way,
works fine.
Another thought I just got is, does the default text for a big text field
matter on its behavior? Or when you define the bean to contain the value?
