Well in fact there is something "special" for this container list: We want to have only one container in the list. So if there is no container, you should display the "add container" button, and if there is a container you should display the "update container" button. That's all about this list.
Now if you want you can use a field which is not attached to a container, but to a page.

The strange thing is that the footer text field, which works the same way, works fine. Another thought I just got is, does the default text for a big text field matter on its behavior?
