If you do not plan to modify Jahia, the most easiest (and clean) way to deploy additional classes would be to package them within your set of templates (so that they do not mix with the Jahia code itself). Documented here in chapter 7 - p.45:

Hi,
You can't access to the Jahia API from another webapp context. This is a classloader issue. Please check the webapp doc:
http://www.jahia.org/jahia/webdav/site/jahia_org/shared/documentation/WebAppGuideDRAFT1.pdf page 23 of the pdf or the Tomcat doc about classloading and seggregation of contexts.
So if you want to develop a webapp which accesses all the Jahia API, you need to deploy it within the Jahia context itself.
