My understanding is that 10.5 is fairly crashy & buggy, due presumably to some combination of changes made while working on 64-bit-ness and in the rather large patch which did something with instance variables for ESObjectWithStatus / AIListObject instances. Robbie has effectively made the case to us (and off-list, as well) that it doesn't seem likely that going 10.6+ on Adium 1.5 will hasten the release of 1.5, and it is more likely to lead to further massive code changes and therefore more likely to lead to regressions. Insofar as that goes, I agree. On the other hand, I hate things that waste our time and therefore divert human resources away from good work. Having to deal with long or tricky merges is one such thing. Moving 1.5 to 10.6+ now provides a more consistent workspace for work on both 1.5.x and further-future versions. That ultimately makes the case for me. 1.5 isn't in a position to be released; it's in a position to begin integration towards a beta period. Two months would be a low-ball estimate... three could be a reasonable target, especially since I'd like to have Facebook-XMPP completed and merged before considering 1.5 feature-frozen. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will be released 'Summer 2011'. Call that June and we have 3 months to make an Adium 1.5, which is 64-bit, Intel-only, 10.6 and 10.7 compatible, a reality. I think that's feasible and ideal for longer-term development goals of the project, which is to say continued development of the best instant messaging platform for Mac using the best tools available to us. -Evan
