EMI2 works fine for setting the sender number.I always use the 
international format and the latest CVS does send it out as truely 
international number which wasnt the case with older versions. This 
means the number is sent to the SMSC without the + but indicating 
that the number format is an international one.

If your handset does receive the SMS and there is a matching 
directory entry, then it might display the name of the sender instead 
of its number (my Nokia 6210 does it at least). This has nothing to 
do with Kannel at all as it is performed on the local handset. If you 
send local numbers before, the handset might not have matched the 
corresponding entry in the adress book because the numbers did not 
match to the internationally written one in the adress book.
