Hi Andreas, Firstly, thanks for you patience, what you've said sounds very good for me, but I still have some doubts (or some worries):
a) Does Kannel allways store a message before contacting a SMSC and vice-versa an Application? Is this true for SMS-MT, SMS-MO and DLR messages? b) If I send 100000 messages to Kannel at 100 messages/second but the target SMSC receives at just 5 messages/second, Does Kannel enqueue all messages and submit them at the lower speed? Will the bottlenecked messages be handled in ram memory or the store file? c) What are the differences between stable version 1.0.3 and development version 1.1.6 regarding messages persistence? Forgive some many questions. Best regards. -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Fink [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: sexta-feira, 17 de maio de 2002 19:56 To: Mauricio Ramos Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Serious concern about persistence in Kannel Importance: High ><< >I was evaluating the Kannel 1.0.3 (software itself and userguide.html) and >realized such functionality isn't there, is it? You should take a look at the store file feautre, this is your crash saver if kannel ever crashes (which it very rarely does). Using MySQL for DLR is recommended for large volumes. Of course you can also do the same thing in your application because the chances that a message gets lost on the way is minimal and would only be possible during a few miliseconds between the submission to kannel and the submission to the SMSC and vice versa. Also if kannel crashes before sending the ACK to the SMSC the SMSC will keep the message stored. And at the end kannel's access log gives you tracking possibilities. -- Andreas Fink Fink-Consulting ------------------------------------------------------------------ Tel: +41-61-6932730 Fax: +41-61-6932729 Mobile: +41-79-2457333 Address: A.
