Hi,

First of all, this list is for discussions about developing Kannel
itself; "I want to use Kannel" type of questions should go to users'
list, but your problem is more generic and it's not related to Kannel.

Just like you can go with getting Kannel compiled for your RedHat, you
can also get libxml2 compiled from source.

Messing with packages like kernel, glibc and other base system
components of your distro is a very bad idea, especially with RedHat.
Yet it's seldom required, usually there are simpler ways to work this
around. If I were you, I'd just install Debian and stick to it.
