I vote to reevaluate the issue once the patches have been committed. It
would just be a pitty to rush in a stable release only to find 2 days later
5 more bugs/features waiting to be implemented.

IMHO once the meta-data and other patches floating around are voted
and commited.
The code on CVS has been production-quality for a lot of time, and
there's a lot of improvements on CVS already.
