Anything can be added to Kannel. The issue is:

1) Why
2) What would it take

Now I'll leave #1 to others, but I can tell you that #2 is a question that would, as others have said, not be answered without some mental effort. Before we even get to the development effort, which I assure you would not be insignificant.

I was merely trying to point you elsewhere, save you some time. But of course you are welcome to add it yourself!

I don't think discussion is who are the organizations implemented SMS over SS7 rather it more concern weather the feature can be added on kannel or not. And what are the advantages and disadvanges of the above feature in comparision to SMPP.

As another person has written, SMS over SS7 means implementing MAP. And TCAP. And SCCP. (Or the SIGTRAN equivalents.) There are no open source implementations of these. Openss7.org has them in the works, and are most likely to be the first to do it.

Yes there is a major advantage to control of the link and obviously cost, but then retries, HLR lookups etc will need to be in the SMSC driver which is outside the scope of what Kannel is designed to do (IMHO) so this would need to be thought about very carefully if done.

If you do write an open source SMSC driver for SS7 I'm sure there will be many very happy people :)

Thanks,
Donald

Hi,
If we use sms for push over ss7 E1 link.i.e directly connected to MSC,
instead of SMSC(SMPP),Does we will get an advantage?
if yes can we devlop kannel to support the above?

Waiting for Any suggestion.

Thanks & Regards
