Could that be a reason why fedora can use Marvel firmware using build81 while slackware cannot.

Both fedora/slackware can use Marvel firmware under old BIOS.

I will test it by compiling kernel to support SanDisk by now.

After some troubleshooting with Marcelot, smithbone and cjb, we came to
the conclusion that the USB2 card reader causes the problem.  I tried
booting with my USB1 card reader with no problems.

The USB1 reader is a SanDisk Cruzer reader.
The USB2 reader is an oem reader :

I saw that exact model at staples under the IOGEAR brand.
I attached the log when I boot without the firmware loaded.
