They're quite slow. Last I heard, Theora in particular was practically
unusable on the machines, depending on a clip's frame rate and
resolution. This is a known problem as Theora's notoriously unoptimized,
but it's a real problem for us.
Like I said in a previous mail, there is theora-mmx, which is several
times faster than the standard libtheora. I never got a reply to my
query whether the laptop supports mmx. If so, then has anybody tried it
out yet ?
