Oddly enough, you inadvertently made my point -- That link doesn't refer to a 2005-era laptop, instead it's a nearly-three-year newer "bookend" system containing a CPU capable of both SSE2 and x86_64 (ie an Intel Core2Duo), better I/O, and more upgradability opportunities than a laptop from a few years prior.
