A lot of the scientific stacks appear to do as they please here (they
might have an exception, I'm not sure), but they have a tendency to
use very x86 specific ones, in most cases if they used the distro ones
the code would actually build/run across mult arch platforms. After
getting yelled at for trying to fix it I moved on with life.
