Thrift is broken for all languages (maybe not Java). It's upstream devs
Apache-side are trying to shove all the language bindings in a single
homogeneous hierarchy. That ends up conflicting with the conventions of
each language.

Anything Thrift-related definitely requires a lot of packager care.
