Fixing the FTBFS is rather trivial (yet another victim of GCC13 header shenanigans) and I've already created a patch for this, but I didn't want to pick up the package since upstream activity since rather low. If you're saying that the project isn't dead yet, then I'd be willing to pick this up either as main maintainer or as co-maintainer.
