Well, to force a a kernel panic one can activate (if not already
activated) and send c for system crash into /proc/sysrq-trigger.
So as root "echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger".

That's one way of knowing how to force a kernel panic. But if it's
useful for this kind of testing, I don't know since kernel panics
normally happen when the system is in an (deemed) otherwise
unrecoverable state. But I guess it's better than nothing.
