Could you please check which of them are used by Cinnamon spin?

Hi,

No, but Cinnamon maintainers are welcome to check the list and own whatever packages they need.

Just keep in mind almost all of the packages on this list are really completely obsolete upstream. The upstream repos are either archived, or don't exist anymore at all, or in a couple of cases the Fedora package corresponds to a branch that's no longer maintained upstream. There will very likely never be a new upstream release of any of these. It would be nice if we could retire as much as possible rather than keep obsolete packages around forever like we do GTK 1 and GLib 1.

I recommend looking at what depends on the packages you have installed to assess whether you really need them or not and whether dependency minimization is an option. E.g. nemo-preview depends on clutter. I see muffin and cinnamon itself don't require clutter anymore, so hopefully nemo-preview is the only thing that needs fixed.

GTK 2 is an exception in that clearly that one should not be retired. Somebody else can claim it after we orphan it. Thanks Artur for already volunteering to do so.

Our list is exact source package names, so we won't drop libsoup3 or vte291, which are not on our list.

Michael
