Hi
The cdbs upstream developer has pointed out that cdbs is not needed as a
dependency for pbuilder anymore and indeed serves no purpose in Fedora
anymore. I hence plan to retire it by the end of the week if no-one has
any use for it.
Isn't it required for working with some debian packages? I vaguely
recall that the libguestfs dsc packaging uses CDBS.
Hmm I don't see cdbs in the BuildRequires of libguestfs.
Hmm, I guess it's not required in the debian/control file, but yeah,
the main reason for CDBS is that some debian packages use it to build.
It's still supported as a build method in debian too.
For the record, this is what the upstream developer wrote:
"The plan is to slowly rip cdbs appart until there is nothing left
I have absolutely no idea what could be the purpose of cdbs on a
Redhat/Fedora system but please don't waste your time on this.
I think a request for removal is fine"
Not that it is a big effort to keep in Fedora, OTOH if it is obsolete it
is probably good to remove it.
