Hello everybody,
For some months already, I have not been able to spend any time for
Fedora or my packages there. Consequently, I am orphaning most of them
now. This message is about Jekyll and some of its dependencies. While I
hope I will be able to start contributing again in the future, I do not
currently use Jekyll, so I do not expect to return to this package set.
I just orphaned the following packages, with listing on specific issues
I am aware of:
rubygem-jekyll: FTI, due to rubygem-terminal-table retired. Also, has a
somewhat complicated, non-upstreamable patch set mainly because Jekyll
by nature installs gems, which needs to be disabled when Jekyll comes
from distribution repository. There are some helper repos for patch set
management in pagure.io/jekyll-fedora namespace that I can also hand
over if needed.
rubygem-jekyll-asciidoc
rubygem-jekyll-feed
rubygem-jekyll-sass-converter: Has old version, as the newer ones depend
on stuff written in Dart, which is (or was at the time I last looked at
this) not available in Fedora
rubygem-jekyll-seo-tag
rubygem-jekyll-toc
rubygem-jekyll-watch
rubygem-liquid: Has old version, as Jekyll is the only used and does not
support the latest major version
rubygem-minima
rubygem-minitest-profile
rubygem-sassc
rubygem-sync
rubygem-term-ansicolor: Lags one patch release, I don't anticipate any
issues just doing a version bump
I also removed my co-maintainer privileges from the following packages,
where I was the only human committing for a long time. These probably
also need a new (true or de facto) maintainer as soon as something needs
to be fixed:
rubygem-mercenary
rubygem-tins: Lags some releases. Upstream release management is a bit
chaotic, but usually there has not been any major issues, just some
simple patching needed to adjust to their changes.
rubygem-tomlrb

Otto

Package: rubygem-terminal-table-3.0.2-8.fc43
Summary: Simple, feature rich ASCII table generation library
RPMs: rubygem-terminal-table rubygem-terminal-table-doc
Size: 361.27 KiB
By the way, while trying recent ruby3.5 changeset,
I've noticed that all rubygem-jekyll related packages are currently
unbuildable,
because of rubygem-terminal-table retirement, due to being orphaned
for 8 weeks.
Some volunteers to take over this package? (I am not familiar with
jekyll or terminal-table...)
Note that currently no re-review is needed for
rubygem-terminal-table because 8 weeks has not passed since
retirement _yet_ (until 2025-10-31 Fri)
Regards,
Mamoru
