Hello!

I have been asked 2 weeks ago, what we can do to stop systemd synthetizing own hostname response in systemd-resolved. I have asked them to create bugzilla [1].

There already is upstream issue for the problem [2], more than 1 year old. But what multiple users view a bug, systemd maintainers see as a working feature. The upstream issue has no discussion ongoing, how to solve the problem.

I have tried creating pull request [3], but no comment appeared in two weeks.

I admit this do not have highest priority and has a known workaround. Multiple people reported it. NLnetLabs are no beginners in DNS technology, they are upstream of unbound and other DNS specialized tools. They even write RFCs defining correct DNS behavior. I am kind of used to be ignored, but they asked me what can I do to improve default Fedora installation. I did what I could, but it did not help in this case (so far).

Would you have please some suggestion, how to fix issues in Fedora, when neither downstream or upstream issue reports seem to work?

Thank you in advance,
Petr
