It might be worth creating some Fedora-side documentation about how to
do this and how to help upstreams with it.
First draft:
https://codeberg.org/gordonmessmer/dev-blog/src/branch/main/using-versioned-symbols.md
I think a lot of the background info provided on that page isn't going
to be interesting to developers, so I've made a few changes.
I've expanded the demo project so that in addition to illustrating
symbol version maps, it can illustrate the symbol resolution problem
that prompts these discussions periodically:
https://codeberg.org/gordonmessmer/libfoo-versioned
I've added a summary of the different dependency resolution approaches I
suggested, and the how versioned symbols work with dependency
generation:
https://codeberg.org/gordonmessmer/dev-blog/src/branch/main/visual-dependencies.md
... and a very elementary document describing how SemVer relates to
shared libraries:
https://codeberg.org/gordonmessmer/dev-blog/src/branch/main/visual-semver.md
Since those things are described elsewhere, I can pare the "how-to" way
back.
