Ok, I’ve tagged ceph into my side tag, and I’m starting to rebuild gdal and groonga.

I won’t be able to rebuild root without modifications, since it FTBFS in the mass rebuild with a couple of test failures:

https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//work/tasks/3680/141663680/build.log

    The following tests FAILED:
        447 - test-stressgraphics (Failed) longtest
        448 - test-stressgraphics-interpreted (Failed)
    Errors while running CTest

Mattias, I’ve CC’ed you as the maintainer of the root package. Shall we just skip these stressgraphics tests? Or shall we merge the side tag without a root rebuild, causing it to fail to install, and let you work through it on your own schedule?

I also wasn’t able to rebuild buildbox, since it started failing to build from source after I impact-checked abseil-cpp. It’s a leaf package, so I filed a bug, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435255, and accepted that this update will cause it to fail to install in Rawhide for the time being.

I’m happy to delay up to a few days to get root and/or buildbox rebuilt successfully if I hear from a maintainer of either package. I don’t want to delay too much longer than that because I don’t want to run into another side-tag conflict, and I want to make sure the update can pass gating and go stable in Rawhide well before the scheduled branching of F44 on 2026-02-03.

Hi,

Yes, I noticed that. ;-)  That's fine with me.

    Be aware that I’ve rebuilt libarrow (before seeing your message)
    in a different side tag for the abseil-cpp update, which I
    announced 2026-01-11, and which was then slightly delayed by a
    conflicting net-snmp update. With your consent, perhaps I can just
    tag the ceph rebuild into my side tag, f44-build-side-127564, and
    do the other three rebuilds there myself using provenpackager
    privilege, thereby combining your update with my update and
    avoiding further conflicts.

    Arrow packages include libarrow*.rpm parquet*.rpm (libparquet*),

    side-tag f44-build-side-127546 has been created for rebuilding
    the packages with hard dependencies:
    * ceph (for which I am maintainer)
    * gdal
    * groonga
    * root

    libarrow is building in the side tag now. I will build Ceph when
    it finishes.

    (I'm not a proven packager, I can't build the other packages.)

    Tentatively I plan on merging whatever is built in the side tag
    on or after 6 Feb 2026.
