I made a similar offer shortly after starting this thread - ie. months
ago - but I apparently lack qualifications. Not sure, by the way, why
none of the maintainers of guile-dependent packages complained about
the current state of affairs...

Thanks for confirming! (I reported this two months ago. Nothing
changed.)

My understanding is that Fedora will support i686 code, on some basic
level, for the foreseeable future. Anyhow, my suggestion to drop i686
still stands because:
- upstream fixed the 32-bit build failure quite quickly, but never cut
a new release once the fixes were in;
- Fedora's guile-support is currently stuck. Focusing on 64-bit might
make it more likely that things finally get unstuck.

(And, yes, I am still annoyed that I had to bisect the Fedora i686
build failure only to discover this was already known and fixed
upstream for a long time. Pure busy work!)
