Key Discussion Points
#3507 FESCo election policy: A proposal to limit FESCo members to two
consecutive terms was discussed. Concerns were raised about a potential
shortage of candidates. The discussion was deferred to allow the proposal's
author to address feedback.
#3562 Shift TeXLive 2025 change: The change to move the TeXLive 2025 update
from Fedora 45 to Fedora 44 was formally APPROVED, as the work was already
mostly complete.
#3561 How to handle tickets more responsively: The group agreed to a new
process where any member casting a deciding vote on a ticket is also
responsible for marking the ticket as approved.
#3556 ibus-speech-to-text WhisperCpp support: The change was APPROVED with a
strong recommendation that at least one small, useful model be packaged to make
the feature more immediately useful.
#3546 Build FCOS on Fedora Konflux: The change to move the Fedora CoreOS build
process to the Konflux infrastructure was APPROVED.
#3563 F44 Incomplete Changes Report: The majority of the meeting was spent
reviewing the status of F44 changes:
UseKmsconVTConsole: This change is blocked on technical issues and its impact
on OpenQA. The team will work on a solution offline and revisit it next week.
Podman6: This change will not be ready for F44 and will be moved to F45.
Remove Python Mock Usage: With only 8 packages remaining, there is a push to
complete this for F44.
CMake: Use ninja generator by default: The change is ongoing. The owner will
prioritize finishing it, using provenpackager rights if necessary to fix
packages.
Multiple changes were confirmed as complete or on track, and their statuses
were updated (e.g., BtrfsBootForCloud, Budgie 10.10, PackageKit-DNF5).
Several other changes are still in progress and will be revisited next week
(e.g., Protobuf 5.x/6.x, DankFedoraMiracleWM).
Open Floor: A document regarding product security and CVE filing was shared
with the FESCo mailing list for feedback.
Action Items
A pull request needs to be created to document the new process for handling
ticket approvals.
Neal Gompa (conan_kudo) to update the status of the "Changes/Budgie 10.10"
ticket to ON_QA.
Paul Holzinger (luap99) to move the "Changes/Podman6" ticket to the F45 release.
Fabio Valentini (decathorpe) will chair the next FESCo meeting.
