If you use a package a lot, maybe reach out to the maintainer to see how
you can help. But the chances are it will be really hard.

However, I think it is easier if you are interested in broad technologies.
Joining a SIG room in Matrix and seeing what issues they talk about is
usually the easiest way to get your feet wet. Mostly because maintaining a
package is not a solo task in most cases, and there are plenty of small
nuances in each ecosystem.
