Forthcoming changes to containerd rpms in Fedora might interest those
running containerd on their Fedora machines.

First, FESCo approved an update policy exception for containerd. This means
all Fedora releases will have the same version of containerd unless
constrained by the available version of Go. Containerd v2.3.x requires Go
1.26 which will be available in Rawhide (F45) and F44. F43 and F42 will
have containerd v2.2.x. as long as Go remains at 1.25.

Second, containerd includes containerd-shim-runc-v2 (aka shim). The
upstream containerd team builds the shim as a static binary but recent
Fedora releases of containerd include a dynamic shim binary. Starting with
the v2.3.x releases, the shim is provided as a static binary in Fedora
rpms. This should be transparent but those are famous "last words". Please
file an issue if you encounter problems.

Best regards

Brad Smith
