Dear all, I've been with the Fedora community for over two decades ... time flies! ... and over that time accumulated a lot of packages.
Recent controversies within the project and in the wider free/libre/"open source" software communities - many around GenAI/LLM use - have led me to pause and take stock of what I really want to be doing, and where. I'm not going anywhere in the short term - I'm employed to contribute to open source projects, and my employer is a CentOS shop - but I'm refocusing my packaging effort on - what work needs - what I personally use - any necessary dependencies For personal use, I'm also increasingly focusing on hand-written projects (see e.g. the Handmade Manifesto[^1], slopfree-software- index[^2], open-slopware[^3]) and will potentially drop packages and package new projects accordingly. I don't plan any committee involvement at the moment - depending on how some deliberations pan out - but I might be reducing my commitments next year. I'll be hoping to spend some of the time freed up to finish a pet project that's been languishing for too long - writing tooling to automate generating Lua specs from LuaRocks rockspecs. [^1]: https://handmade.network/manifesto [^2]: https://codeberg.org/brib/slopfree-software-index [^3]: https://codeberg.org/ethical-foss/open-slopware For now - this is what I plan to drop tomorrow. It's a mix of packages I no longer use, libraries that no longer have any dependents, and that misguided effort to bootstrap the Golang stack for EPEL 10 that predated (and in some little ways informed) our switch to vendoring dependencies for Golang apps. Full disclosure: yes, this is generated using the LLM-assisted sandogasa tooling. I try to limit my F/L/OSS LLM usage to this; by default my contributions to other projects are hand-written 214 cull candidate(s) for salimma: 114 orphanable, 61 self-removable, 39 to ask about, 0 unknown owner — can be orphaned directly: aqute-bnd-epel emacs-rpm-spec-mode fuse-encfs ghc-language-c gnome-js-common gnugo go-mmproxy golang-github-alecthomas-participle2 golang-github-google-gopacket golang-github-jinzhu-copier grhino helvum javapackages-tools-epel libgee06 liboauth ocaml-atd odt2txt oflb-smonohand-fonts pam-cryptsetup python-blessings python-blist python-bowler python-django-q python-linecache2 python-merge3 python-mistune08 python-moreorless python-pretend python-pytest-services python-represent python-result python-sphinx-hoverxref python-sphinx-jsonschema python-sphinx-typlog-theme python-sphinx_selective_exclude python-stdlibs python-testtools python-tmuxp python-types-enum34 python-types-ipaddress python-usort python-volatile python-zope-testrunner python2-psutil python3-greenlet python39-future-epel python39-jinja2-epel python39-markupsafe-epel python39-pefile-epel python39-pyelftools-epel python39-zstd-epel quarry rpmdistro-repoquery rust-atomic-polyfill0.1 rust-atomic-traits rust-brownstone rust-buf-min rust-chrono-english rust-crossterm0.24 rust-cursive0.16 rust-cursive_buffered_backend0.5 rust-cursive_core0.2 rust-dns-lookup1 rust-enum-map-derive0.6 rust-enum-map1 rust-fancy-regex0.11 rust-fancy-regex0.7 rust-fd-lock2 rust-fsio rust-gettid rust-hamcrest2 rust-helvum rust-indicatif0.16 rust-joinery rust-joinery2 rust-json_to_table rust-lapp rust-libbpf-cargo0.21 rust-libbpf-cargo0.23 rust-libbpf-rs0.21 rust-libbpf-rs0.23 rust-linux-raw-sys0.11 rust-lscolors0.13 rust-minidom rust-minidom0.12 rust-nix0.24 rust-nom-supreme rust-nu-ansi-term0.49 rust-oneshot rust-pancurses0.16 rust-portable-atomic0.3 rust-powierza-coefficient rust-procfs0.12 rust-procfs0.14 rust-procfs0.15 rust-progpool rust-quick-xml0.17 rust-roxmltree0.18 rust-run_script rust-rxml rust-rxml_proc rust-rxml_validation rust-signal rust-strum0.24 rust-termion1 rust-tracing_chromium rust-tracing_facade rust-tree_magic_db rust-ufmt-write rust-vec1 rust-wayland-server rust-weak-table spicctrl xbacklight admin — can remove own ACL: antlr4-project apache-commons-configuration apache-commons-vfs bigloo bpython ccze colorized-logs cvsps emacs-apel emacs-common-w3m emacs-slime flim gauche geary gnome-keyring-sharp golang-github-cpuguy83-md2man-epel golang-github-facebook-time golang-github-facebookincubator-flog golang-github-facebookincubator-go2chef icu4j jakarta-json lbzip2 libdispatch libteam maven-doxia mojo-executor neovim papirus-icon-theme powerline python-bleach python-configupdater python-curtsies python-extras python-flit python-html5lib python-hypothesis python-jsmin python-neovim python-nltk python-pickleshare python-pyaib python-pytest-flake8 python-pytest-runner python-requests-download python-responses python-sphinx-copybutton python-sphinx-testing rlog rubygem-between_meals rubygem-erubi shotwell simh spec-version-maven-plugin stringtemplate4 swift-lang swiftlint terminus-fonts tpm2-abrmd tpm2-tools treelayout waf commit/collaborator/ticket — ask to be removed: bsh (collaborator) clang15 (collaborator) clang16 (collaborator) fasterxml-oss-parent (collaborator) gpgme2 (commit) ini2toml (collaborator) jackson-annotations (collaborator) jackson-bom (collaborator) jackson-core (collaborator) jackson-databind (collaborator) jackson-parent (collaborator) jakarta-activation1 (commit) kiwi (commit) libucontext (commit) llvm15 (collaborator) llvm16 (collaborator) monit (commit) notmuch (collaborator) ocaml-lwt (commit) ocaml-react (commit) pandoc (collaborator) plexus-components-pom (commit) python-atomicwrites (commit) python-backcall (collaborator) python-backrefs (collaborator) python-django-filter (commit) python-ipuz (commit) python-pytest-home (commit) python-repoze-sphinx-autointerface (collaborator) python-sphinx-epytext (collaborator) python-tenacity (collaborator) python-twine (collaborator) qperf (collaborator) ranger (commit) strongswan (commit) wiggle (collaborator) xbean (commit) xml2 (commit) xmlstarlet (collaborator) Best regards, -- _o) Michel Lind _( ) https://keyoxide.org/5dce2e7e9c3b1cffd335c1d78b229d2f7ccc04f2 README: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Salimma#README
