I've talked with Davide (SFML maintainer) some time ago on Matrix
and the main thing holding him back was the fact that SFML2 and SFML3
are not API-compatible, and some of the software depending on SFML2
does not have an update to SFML3 available upstream.

This can be solved by introducing a separate SFML2 package before
bumping current SFML to v3, but there's one extra complicating factor
here: contrary to SDL, which uses separate SONAMEs for the major
releases (i.e. SDL2.so, SDL3.so, etc.), SFML does not. So SFML2 would
need some patching in order to make it parallel-installable with SFML3.

Sincerely,
Artur FI
