Many people like to have exactly one application for each task - for me

replace Epiphany with Firefox, Totem with VLC, etc.

for many and will justifiably draw user criticism.

+1. Preventing people from uninstalling the actual core (i.e. gnome-shell, control-center, ...) is sensible, but anything beyond that is IMO excessive and not really in the spirit of "freedom".
