i wonder which packages at all require a kernel because "package-cleanup"
has the opinion the kernel is a leaves packages at all - even the running

kernel-3.13.5-103.fc19.x86_64

[root@localhost:~]$ uname -r
3.13.5-103.fc19.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 3 18:46:36 UTC 2014

one reason more that the yum-behavior below is essential
there is only that one kernel package installed

[root@localhost:~]$ yum remove kernel
Loaded plugins: protectbase, tsflags
Skipping the running kernel: kernel-3.13.5-103.fc19.x86_64
