Making a good learning simulator is an art. Too few degrees of freedom, and it is just boring; but too many are sometimes just distracting from the concept being discovered. There are some good ones in Java at http://phet.colorado.edu/web-pages/simulations-base_es.html ... these have gone through usability testing, and each is tailored to learning a related concept set. I do not know how open the University of Colorado would be to putting these under some kind of open license, but it is certainly worth a shot - they distribute them pretty openly. Jameson
