It's funny that you bring the up, because a couple of things came together to make me think about the issue also. There is a commercial dedicated typing trainer available "The Writer" http://www.writerlearning.com/ that the school I work for uses. One thing that this does that a typical typing program doesn't, is that it picks up multi key presses and every so often prompts the student to mash all the home row keys simultaneously. There's no way that you can advance if you don't keep your hands in the right position. Looking at pygame for a different reason, makes me believe that (assuming that the XO hardware supports multi press) it would be simple to detect this in pygame. I've been thinking of writing a little hack to see if this is the case.
