Hi Adam, If I remember correctly, the /libertas /driver that is needed (for the xo1 at least), in contrast to its name, actually is not completely free, I don't remember if because of some firmware blobs.
Therefore, it was difficult or impossible for a driver programmer to set the device to monitor mode required to host a hotspot. Not my area of expertise, though. Hopefully i'm wrong.
