Congratz! :)

Hmm is that normal? I guess the EEPROM needs to be programmed so one
port acts as UART and the other as JTAG, no? And does the Linux driver
recognize FTDI JTAG ports as serial ports?

UrJTAG already supports FTDI JTAG adapters, so you should be able to
use the stock UrJTAG (check for packages for your Linux distribution)
and then run the "detect" command that will show the JTAG identification
code of the FPGA.
If it works, then you can compile Michael's modified UrJTAG that
supports configuration of the FPGA and writing of the board's flash.

You can also check the UART functionality with a serial terminal
program at 115200 8-N-1 (e.g. GtkTerm), your board is already flashed
with MM SoC and it will display debug messages when you power it (if
not: press the middle pushbutton to start, newer versions of the SoC
require that and I don't remember which one was flashed). Use a
*regulated* (+/- 5%) 5V power supply adapter with the positive in the
middle.

Before connecting, check the voltages on the connectors (JTAG,
UART and supply) to be safe...

Hmm too bad... we'll need to find a clean way to fix this problem,
manually cutting each connector will be time consuming and won't look
good.

I think Michael will be interested as well; I can cheaply forward
him one since we now both live in Germany.

Thanks again!
