AFAICT the GPL-incompatible Free software is for Linux targets only, and may be removed from the source tarball if required.

I'm guessing the non-Free code is tagged as non-Free because the licenses don't explicitly grant rights to modify, just distribute. But it would be nice to know for sure.

Jeff (newlib maintainer): have a look http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/legal/2010-October/001401.html . It appears that there's some code in newlib that is unacceptable for Fedora. If I'm reading that list right, some of it apparently belongs to DJ.
