If they are not connected together, we don't know whether a TV adapter cable is present. But if they are connected together, then we are sure one is present? In that case, we may still be able to make use of such detection, and if we include a TV adapter cable with M1 we can try to source one that connects the DDC pins together. I don't know now whether we can find such a cable, but it can be a goal, if that creates an advantage in auto-detecting the presence of the cable.
