The most striking difference in my setup (besides buttons being
usable at all) is that the controls now feel a lot more precise.

And yes, you can make faster changes too. E.g., hold down a
position for slow rotation and a lot of zoom on the pad, then tap
the rhythm on the far right (fast rotation) and with less zoom to
make the image jump and contract. Looks good up to about 2 Hz.

I wonder at what point people would get seasick, though ...

Addendum about the hang caused by MIDI overload: when rendering,
it seems difficult to get it, at least when the system has a low
uptime. But when the MIDI settings dialog is up, a few swipes of
the pad are sufficient.
