Ahh, I saw the new version on git. I'll give it a try soon.
I will push out web updates pretty soon, so you do not need to compile
things from git etc.
Really looking forward to the PNG capabilities. Does transparency work for the
PNG's?
You can indeed have some form of transparency, with both PNG and JPG.
The pictures are drawn additively, i.e. the RGB values of the pixels
from the image and from its background are added together (same trick as
with the camera input). With this algorithm, black pixels are
"transparent". This is what I found to give good results in my
experiments. Alpha channels from PNGs are not supported.
Also, what do you mean about switching composite inputs? You'll have s-video
and component out? I'm confused!
Right now, you can only feed a composite signal to the M1's video input
through the green connector. After the update, the video input will support:
* composite on green connector
* composite on blue connector
* composite on red connector
* S-Video on green + blue connectors
* component on green + blue + red connectors
Additionally, the first 3 configurations (composite) can be selected
live using the F1/F2/F3 keys, so you can e.g. switch between multiple
cameras.

This will probably take more time, anything USB is difficult.
Cheers,
