Also, if for whatever reason you can't get the web update to work in 
rescue mode, you still have the possibility to download manually the 
files flickernoise.fbi, bios.bin and soc.fpg from 
www.milkymist.org/updates/current, transfer them with FTP, and click 
"Update from files". So you avoid JTAG :)
