Yes, alpha grip does have a hub:
|__ Port 6: Dev 6, If 0, Class=hub, Driver=hub/4p, 12M
|__ Port 1: Dev 8, If 0, Class=HID, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
|__ Port 1: Dev 8, If 1, Class=HID, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
However, the frogpad is hub-less:
|__ Port 6: Dev 9, If 0, Class=HID, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M

Yes, have quite a collection of input devices, bought in the hopes of
making me more productive. Other than the two above, I have some triple
USB foot switch, a Kinesis Ergo Elan (PS2-model), the Fingerworks
Touchstream LP (a pure "solid state" touchpad keyboard), an older
TypeMatrix and a Comfort Keyboard.
The one that *does* make me more productive is the Ergo Elan, the other
stuff was quite a waste of money :) Currently I'm evaluating a Yogitype
but not sure yet what to think of it.
Should write a book about ergonomic input devices :)
Sorry for off-topic...
cheers,
David
