Well, then why not apply for this? :-) I thought that most people are here aware how this program works.. Basically google sponsors each year more than 100 open source projects with some $$$. Most of the money goes to the students, but a part goes also to the project for the mentoring. Both big projects (like KDE) and smaller projects apply each year. So its not that like the standard "student exploit" type of program. More details are available at the URLs i posted earlier. If you have ideas then perhaps start a wiki page? The student should be able to finish this task in about three months, just to give you an idea.
