Clearing the air here - I have no issues with anyone in the sabayon project, I have issues with the communication within the project. IRC seems to have become the main source of communication last spring and that does not work, especially when IRC box is sick, dies or can't be logged in 24/7
Proposal: ---- Have IRC as it is, but it's not the main form of communication. Do not expect people to know stuff discussed in IRC. ---- Incorporate ML along with IRC so rest of project knows what is going on. A simple heads up thing. ML is main form of communication. ---- Bugs go to Bugzilla, Issues/Ideas/Discussion go to ML. pokes via IRC for quick simple things. Don't expect pokes to be immediate and expect them to be lost. IRC reliability for me is 50% email is 100% ---- This has to be followed by all This is only way to grow and incorporate others. IRC is a great tool, but it's not a massive tool as the world operates on all sorts of time zones. I've seen people loose interest in the project as they can not sit and wait in IRC to talk to someone and with the ML not active, people wander as I have done and kinda been sitting on the side lines here doing my own thing. BTW I finally do have a irc box running and been up for 4 days, so progress for me. Thanks for listening. We all share a compassion for Sabayon, lets not leave people out. -- ~wolfden~
